MANDATE & FUNCTIONS
Core Mandate of the Ministry:
1. Coordination & Collaboration: The Ministry serves as a secretariat to humanitarian, disaster and social development. This is a critical function of the Ministry, which involves bringing together all relevant actors and stakeholders to work towards addressing the needs of the affected population and also ensuring a wel- coordinated, and effective collaboration through building partnership, establishing clear line of communication so as to achieve a desired and a successful goal.
2. Policy Formulation: The Ministry continues to ensure that policies, plans and programmes are prioritized towards
creating an enabling environment that protect the right and dignity of vulnerable population in the state.
3. Humanitarian Financing: The Ministry is to mobilize and also engage a full range of finance funding mechanism which wil fund the needs of most vulnerable population also addresses humanitarian needs through rehabilitation and construction and building infrastructure for the affected population.
4. Information, Research, Learning and Knowledge Management: The Ministry is responsible for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of humanitarian efforts, ensuring that resources are efficiently and effectively utilized and the use infrastructure to collate, analyses, manage, preserve and share information to the general public for a rapid and effective response.
Other Functions include:
1. Programs and initiative.
2. Coordination disaster management and responses.
3. Provision of assistance and support to vulnerable.
4. Mobilizing resources and partnership to support humanitarian and social development initiative.
5. System strengthening, growth, training and capacity building.
Primary Responsibilities/Functions: coordinating humanitarian services as well as management of both natural and man-made disasters across the state.
